Delaware City sits on the Delaware River at the eastern end of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The historic waterfront, Fort Delaware ferry and canal trail give this small New Castle County town its character.

Delaware City is an incorporated city in New Castle County, south of New Castle along Route 9. Its riverfront Battery Park looks across to Pea Patch Island, home of Fort Delaware State Park, which is reached by seasonal ferry from town.
